Prince William Plans to Join COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil during November, as confirmed by royal officials.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a reception ahead of the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.
Father and son were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the UK government.
Environmental Advocacy Dedication
King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio ahead of the COP summit.
Palace insiders have described William's involvement at the forthcoming conference as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".
Recent Engagements
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were greeted participants featuring conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.
This participation included speaking together with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco in recent months.
Environmental Prize Connection
The UN meeting will align with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he participates in the COP summit on 6 November.
Recently the prince described the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".
Monarch's Environmental Record
King Charles has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the statement: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a significant amount of my life trying to warn of the survival risks facing us over global warming, climate change and ecological decline," the sovereign addressed participants.
